We are enormously  proud of Butterfly’s dedicated, talented  and energetic staff. All of our teachers have a background in early childhood education and extensive experience working with young children. Each staff member brings their unique and varied talents to our team and together they make Butterfly the joyful and creative environment that it is.

Director, Jennifer Lewis

Originally from the east coast, Jennifer founded Butterfly Preschool in 1999 shortly after moving to Boise. Her vision was to create a preschool that offers children a nurturing learning environment that is warm and cozy but also stimulating and full of educational opportunities.

As the mother of three of her own children, Natalie, Jacob and Gabriel, Jennifer understands the importance of providing children with a loving environment that fosters learning and exploration while developing confidence. Jennifer graduated from Vassar College with a B.A. in Sociology and received her M.A. in Child Development and Early Childhood Education from Wheelock College in Boston.

Daisies: Head Teacher, Rose Miller

Rose has a B.A. in Psychology and a M.A. in Early Childhood Education from the University of Washington. Rose is also a talented musician and conducts weekly music classes for all of our children. Rose joined Butterfly Preschool when we opened in 1999 and has been working with young children for over 20 years.

Tulips: Head Teacher, Eliza Hopkins

The oldest of 9 children, Eliza has been around children her whole life. She has been at Butterfly since 2010 and previously ran her own daycare for 7 years. Eliza has an M.A.in Education from the University of Idaho.

Sunflowers: Head Teacher, Sydney Mack

Sydney grew up in northern Idaho and has a Bachelor’s  Degree  in early childhood development from the University of Utah. A dedicated preschool teacher with over 15 years’ experience, Sydney joined Butterfly in 2008. She took time off to have her two daughters and returned in 2012. A talented painter, Sydney also runs weekly art classes for the children.

Chef and Food Educator: Kyle Williams

Kyle was raised on a farm in southern Idaho and still grows his own vegetables and herbs, many of which he uses in the meals he prepares at Butterfly. Educated at Boise State University, Kyle worked as a chef in several well-known farm-to-table restaurants before joining the Butterfly team in 2009.

Kyle derives inspiration from organically grown, local, sustainable produce and the children’s interests and needs. He creates nutritious weekly menus based on what is available and in season. He prepares breakfast, lunch and daily snacks, involving the children in the process during their weekly cooking class.

Administrative Assistant: Eric Winter

Eric has a degree in Operations Management from the University of Idaho and has been working at Butterfly since 2012.  Eric’s four children all attended Butterfly Preschool!
